Just Another Siargao Post

By the end of September, I knew I had to come to my most favorite place for healing. Siargao has always ranked number one in that aspect. It checks all my boxes.
✅ great beaches
✅ surfing
✅ good food
✅ friendly people
✅ non-stop night parties

It has been 5 years since I made an informative blog post about Siargao, and so this time, I wanted to share with everyone all the deets in my latest Siargao retreat.
But FIRST, why did I go back to Siargao for the second time this year?
Some people would be embarrassed to share their love failures, but I'm not one of them. Not because I'm actually proud of those mishaps, but simply because those "canon events" in my life has created a newer much better version of me each time.

I decided to take a trip to Siargao (again for the 2nd time this year), because a guy ghosted me. Lame, I know. It can be a shallow reason to some, but that shit really does hurt. And I didn't want to think of the hurt, or if wallow in it, so I decided, f*ck it. Let's go to Siargao. I was lucky enough to get accompanied by a good set of friends.

How many days was I in Siargao?
We spent 5 good days and 4 amazing nights in the island.

What places did we visit?
I've been to Siargao for about four times in my entire life, and each time is such a new experience, despite going to the same tourist-y places.

1. Secret Beach - a 30-minute motor ride from General Luna
2. Coconut View Deck - a 20-30 minute drive from General Luna
3. Maasin River and its Secret Lagoon - a 10-minute drive from the Coconut View Deck
4. Sugba Lagoon - a 30-40 minute drive from the Maasin River
5. Naked Island, Dako Island and Guyam Island (thru Island hopping)
6. Cloud 9 Beach (for surfing)

What places did we dine in?
As a foodie myself, I cannot, for the life of me, miss out on all of these gastronomic adventures that Siargao has to offer

1. Halika Ice Cream
I would say their ice cream is quite similar to Moonsky and Sunny here in Cebu.

2. Natribu Shop x Restobar
Their seafood marinara is DIVINE!! They're a fairly new restaurant in Siargao, but they're worth checking out.

3. Kurvada
Surprised with the way we get to pay for our food. They would ask us to take a photo of the food that we had and show it to the cashier for payment. Pretty unique if you ask me! I had chicken fillet and for my greens, I had brocolli and mung bean sprouts, and a curry based soup. I have to say I'm still not a big fan of curry so I wasn't really loving my soup. But it's still good though.

4. Isla Cusina
Pricier than most restaurants in Siargao, but the food does not disappoint one bit. Had the Rigatoni Bolognese and it was really delicious.

5. Spotted Pig
THEIR SPANISH LATTE IS SOOOO GOOD!!

6. Las Palmas
The most aesthetically pleasing place we have been to, and their food is worth its ambiance as well.

7. Bulaloan
This is probably the cheapest place we have dined in but if you're craving for bulalo in Siargao, it's definitely a one-stop place you have to go to.

Where do we go for a night out?
We usually do pregames at Mad Monkey. They have like a mini bucket of cocktail that costs 350, and sometimes do B1T1 promos for those buckets. Aaaaand, they have free shots from time to time. Once we're all good and all tipsy, we go to the main spots where the party is at. My favorite party/chill place is the Siargao Beach Club where we usually buy a tower of Tequila Sunrise for 900php.

How much did everything cost?
As an accountant, I could not resist doing a little accounting work whenever I'm out travelling with friends. So here's a complete breakdown of my personal spendings (this already includes amount equally split within the group):

Flights4,766.20Since I booked a flight only a month prior to my trip, it is quite on a pricier side
Roundtrip ticket cost: 4,497.40. Siargao RT tix usually cost 2,000 more or less at a minimum if you book in advance during seat sales.
Amount includes excess baggage fee that we split among ourselves.
Accommodation1,520.00One of my friends has connections with someone who has a great accommodation in Siargao, so this rate is quite a special one. For a 4-night stay, this is quite a steal, and probably the cheapest expense we paid overall.
Food4,250.39You may refer to the list above for the places we have dined in that accumulated this cost.
Night Outs1,148.00A Tequila Sunrise Tower costs 900php which we evenly split most times.
Activities3,745.00This includes the following:
- Island Hopping cost: 1,400 per person (includes a boodle fight lunch in Dako Island)
- Maasin River Boat Ride to the Secret Lagoon cost: 1,200 per boat
- Sugba Lagoon Boat Ride: 2,450 per boat
- Sugba Lagoon Cottage: 500 per cottage
- Sugba Lagoon Kayak Rental: 200 per kayak
- Pick up truck rental + gas: 4,000
- Surfing w/ instructor: 500 per hour per person
Transportation1,790.10Includes motor rental and tricycle fees, and gas expenses
Miscellaneous155.00Bought a shell necklace that costs 75 for posterity

TOTAL EXPENSES: 18,000 est. for 5 days and 4 nights in Siargao. It's a fair deal in my opinion. 18,000 to recenter myself instead of paying for a therapist 🤣

What made this retreat more memorable than all my other Siargao trips?
The initial plan was just to unwind and enjoy the island. I wasn't really planning on meeting people and go to parties, but my friends who I came along with in this trip had plans of their own to which I could not resist being a part of. I'm easily persuaded anyway.

No regrets though.

All the people I met on the island were fun and amazing people. I would say some of them could probably be my good friends over time. So for that, I thank absolutely everyone who made my latest Siargao healing trip a very successful and memorable one 💓

Till next time,

I hope this helps you in your next Siargao trip 💖🌊
