5 Productivity Apps For A More Organized 2021

3:54 PM

One of the few qualities that I like to brag about myself is my organizational skills. I'm not a neat freak but I do like things to be in order and, for a lack of a better word, arranged.

Ever since I've got my first smartphone, and I believe it was an Alcatel smartphone (I could no longer remember what model it was), I've been such a power user when it comes to using different apps and whether we like to admit it or not, our phones are an extension of our lives.

The first phone that I bought with my own money is a Samsung Galaxy A50S. I bought it last December 2019. It's still pretty new, and it's the one I've been using now. It has a 128GB storage and 4GB ram. So for someone like me, it's pretty exciting to have all that storage in the palm of your hands.

Because of all the organizational shit I enjoy doing, I've come up with a list of apps that have been extremely helpful to me in my day-to-day activities.

DISCLAIMER: Aside from the first app on the list, all of the apps I've been using are from Google, and this is in no way sponsored by or affiliated with the company or brand. Although I must admit, I really like using their apps.

1. Money Manager (for my finances)

Being the family breadwinner, I always see to it that my finances is well-allocated and this app has definitely served its purpose well. It is sort of a tracker of the things I have spent or I will be spending. It creates a real-time view of my money at a certain point in time after I have allocated a budget of certain items on my list.

And if you're upgrading your phone to another, it has a backup/restore option that sinks to your Google Drive. Easy, right?

Pros: Easy finance tracker
Cons: Takes a lot of getting used to

2. Google Sheets (for my finances)

I know a lot of my colleagues in the audit and accounting field prefer to use Excel because it's more convenient for them, and it's convenient for them mostly because of work. The same goes with me. Google Sheets has been our staple office app. So it's much more convenient for me to use it.

Pros: Easy and convenient
Cons:  Less functionality compared to Excel

3. Google Drive (for extra storage)

The most convenient storage app for me. Although, because of its free limited storage of 15GB, I do have another storage app which is called MEGA (it has free storage of up to 100GB) but I just rarely use it because it doesn't sync up my Google data.

Pros: owned by Google. easy syncing of data.
Cons: limited storage of 15GB

4. Google Keep (for note-taking)

I've been using Google Keep for ages already. I use this for my grocery list, podcast ideas, blog content ideas, notes whenever I'm on a social media campaign for my podcast and/or blog, and so much more.

Pros: Easy note-taking
Cons: I wish it has more functional features like putting pictures side by side with a note or caption.

5. Google Calendar (for taking notes of upcoming events and daily routine)

Here's a great thing about using Google Calendar, especially if you like syncing your data in one app. It connects to your Google Contacts to which you can add a contact's birthday and their birthdays now appears on your calendar. Super neat, right? It also connects to Google Tasks. Google Tasks is an app where you can just list down a bunch of to-dos. It's different from Google Keep since it doesn't really allow much note-taking. It's literally just writing down your to-dos. Lastly, and this is only applicable if your family/friends/significant other invites you to view their calendar, you can also see what they're up to during the day.

One thing about Google Calendars as well is the sending of calendar invites. I always try to avoid admitting this but I looooove creating Google Calendar invites even if it's just a random get together with friends or birthdays. It gives me some sense of legitimacy whenever I send out calendar invites and they respond "Yes" to going.

Pros: Literally all the things I've said above
Cons: Not much

6. Spotify (BONUS APP)

I know I only said 5 Apps but I could not help but include Spotify on the list. It's not much of an organizational app but this music machine is my all-time go-to whenever I clean my room because music just puts you in a better mood.

So that's it. I hope this post will help you get your stuff ready for the new year. With high hopes for 2021, I pray that you finally achieve whatever it is you've planning for a great future.
